Mix whole-grain organic oatmeal with milk to establish a pastelike consistency. Apply thoroughly across the face, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Milk helps to calm aggravated skin while also acting as a gentle exfoliant with its lactic acid to remove dead skin cells associated with inflammation. Allow to dry for approximately 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. This mask is safe to use once a week for those who experience redness.
The Organic Facts website says that cucumber juice can reduce inflammation, soothe skin and help to heal wounds caused by sunburn or acne. Alternately, mint contains antimicrobial properties helpful in warding off blemish-causing impurities while calming the skin.
For a quick cucumber mint tonic, grate a small cucumber and strain the liquid into a separate container. Finely mince the mint to expose the fleshy part of the leaf. Combine with the liquid and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Pour on a cotton pad and apply in upward strokes to the face. Do not rinse.
Honey and milk retain antimicrobial and cleansing properties, according to Organic Facts website. Milk contains a mild alpha hydroxy acid that acts to remove amassed dead skin without the redness. Alternately, honey is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts and retains moisture helpful to inflamed skin.
Combine a spoonful of honey with a splash of milk. Mix thoroughly and apply to the face. Allow the mixture to dry, then rinse with warm water.
